NWC COMPETITION FINALS - 2011

Congratulations to PIC 3 for placing third in Premier 3, and to PIC 5 winning the Grand Final in Premier Reserve 4. Excellent achievement Coaches, Management Team and players!

PIC 2 2011 SUPER LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!

PIC 2 started the game with a roar, leading from start to finish.  The first three quarters PIC dominated, Wellington East 1 who had no answer to the slick midcourt, relentless defence and accurate shooting from Jezrae and Sharnii.

Wellington East came back from a 17-goal third-quarter deficit to make the final score a bit more respectable. (Source Dominion Post).

Deservingly, three of our players picked up the following awards:-

Best Defender    -  Vaelagi Paulo

Best Midcourter - Ngarama Milner-Olsen

Best Shooter      - Jezrae Te Runa-Morehu

MVP                   - Jezrae Te Runa-Morehu

Congratulations PIC 2, you've done the Club proud!

LEILANI READ

On the 27 June 2010, Executive Members, Past Players and Coaches from the Club joined with Dave and Loloma Read at the launch of the Mezzainine Gallery, Te Rauparaha Arena.  The unveiling of the late Leilani Read's photo was displayed to honour and celebrate her achievements as the only person from Porirua to represent the Silver Ferns.  Waimarama Taumaunu (Club Coach) made a moving speech remembering the natural talent, skill and bubbly personality of Leilani, she also paid tribute to a much loved Club member. Leilani was a dual international who represented both New Zealand and Samoa.  Sadly, she passed away in 1999 at the tender age of 25, however she is never forgotten.
